A Buckhurst woman has appeared in court charged with the murder of a seven-month-old baby.
Shalina Kukkundoor Padmanabha pleaded not guilty to murder and neglect at her plea hearing at Chelmsford Crown Court on Monday.
The 31-year-old from Buckhurst Hill, was arrested following the death of her baby whose name cannot be disclosed due to legal reasons. Padmanabha was unable to convince police of her innocence when they arrived at an address in Buckhurst Hill, where the child was found suffering from multiple fractured bones.
Prosecutors are convinced that Padmanabha killed her baby intentionally, but as expected she is claiming the death was accidental. Mothers who kill their young babies are seen as very strange human beings, which they are. Sometimes, mother killers are driven by intense frustration at the baby’s cries, or severe mental illness of the mother. In other cases, some mothers kill their babies as part of a ritual in which they believe their evil act would afford them some blessing by evil spirits.
The case of this 31 year old defendant and her dead baby will make hairs stand up. In her murder case which will be heard in July, she will claim the broken bones of her seven months old daughter to have been accidental . She is assumed innocent until proven guilty.
Padmanabha’s family are split on the murder allegation with some members suggesting she has a monstrous temper, The Eye Of Media.Com has heard.
