The British Boxing Board Of Control is under pressure to nullify the result of the Dillian Whyte Oscas Rivas fight, after it emerged that Whyte failed a drug test before the fight and the the organisation was informed 3 days before the bout took place.
This means the organisation responsible for setting standards in the sport allowed a professional boxer go into a big fight with drug inducing substances in their system. They will now face calls to defend their actions, and more importantly rule the victory a no contest. The board, headed by Robert Smith (pictured) is known to have allowed victories to remain on boxer’s records even after a drug test failure has been revealed.
After the news that Tony Thompson failed a drug test against David price for their rematch in February 2013. Yet, the losses remain on Price’s record when they should have been ruled null and void. Campaigners are now calling for the victory to be erased from Whyte’s record, leaving Oscar Rivas record still unblemished. This level of indifference to drugs in a dangerous sport like boxing must not be left unchallenged, those at the top of the British Boxing Board Of Control should reconsider their position if they can’t act appropriately in these circumstances.
It is claimed that neither the WBC nor Rivas were made aware of Whyte’s failed test ahead of the Saturday showdown, but White’s camp were made aware of the result. It is improbable that Whyte’s team wouldn’t have mentioned the finding to him before the fight. There is no evidence to support this , it is also possible they may not have wanted him to have that information to disrupt his mind before the fight.
DISGRACEFUL
Hard core boxing enthusiast Danny Benn, 58, brother of former world champion, WBC and WBO champion for three years. Nigel Benn, and uncle of connor Benn, told The Eye Of Media.Com:
”This is disgraceful for boxing and even more shocking if the British Boxing Board Of Control allow the win to stay on Dillian Whyte’s record. We will have to ask the question, ”what are they getting paid for”? They should have cancelled the win against David Price when Tony Thompson knocked out David Price, and made it a no contest but they did not. I’ll tell you what, if the board don’t declare Whyte’s win a no contest, we will really have to ask if they are fit for purpose”, he said.
I was really impressed with Dillian Whyte after he beat Rivas, if he was on drugs, it could explain why he got up from the knock down in the ninth round. He will be a disgrace to boxing if he was on drugs, especially after Jarrell Miller was caught and drugs, and considering the fact Dillian Whyte has been banned for drugs before. he will be a real disgrace to the sport’n’.
Benn, now retired from work due to a leg injury sustained in East London as a doorman, is currently a businessman alongside some of his brothers, who are doing very well in the business world. He often mentors amateur boxers in London and Essex clubs on phone and is sometimes driven there to inspire them and teach them extra moves.
” I think it is important to give boxers a lot of motivation and inspiration, by training them to understand the power of the mind and of discipline and self belief. Boxers must not take drugs, it bbpollutes the sport. My brother Nigel was world champion through hardwork, he never needed to take drugs. Its either natural strength or no strength”.
And I can tell you now that my nephew Connor will never use drugs, he is a clean boxer with nabbtural strength. Our family believe in hard work, discipline, and self belief.

GRIP
The British Boxing Board has already been presented with a motion by this publication to get a grip of the reckless use of foul language outside of the watershed period, which is after 9pm, after Fury called current heavyweight champion, Andy Ruiz Jnr, a fat fxxxxx on the British media, prompting strong objections from social workers, who considered the language to be insensitive to children suffering from obesity, and encouraging young teenagers to perpetuate such vulgar sentiments.
Smith admitted such language was ”not nice” and vowed to investigate Fury’s language. Tyson Fury has largely gained both popularity and notoriety from his outlandish claims of greatness, his care free use of derisive language about both opponents and promoters, and the fact he keeps winning after beating former world champion Wladimir Klitschko, then later putting on an impressive performance against WBC champion, Deontey Wilder last December, where he earned a draw after climbing off the canvas twice.
Whilst contemplating how he handles such an investigation against a who has earned a god living by talking how he likes, Smith has the added challenge of deciding whether to scrap Dillian Whyte’s victory, which will also mean scrapping the loss against David price by Tony Thompson in 2013.

The British Boxing Board of Control today said in a statement:
“United Kingdom Anti-Doping undertake all anti-doping procedures on behalf of the British Boxing Board of Control and any subsequent findings, decisions, suspensions and sanctions are upheld by the British Boxing Board of Control in line with United Kingdom Anti-Doping Agency”.
We say they need to do more, and go the extra and necessary mile of striking the win out from Dillian Whyte’s record.
