Far right group, ‘Britain First’, has released a worrying video of members training in a camp. The release of the video, 3 days before the E.U referendum takes place, is disturbing.
Since the murder of Conservative MP, Joe Cox, the tension for the forthcoming EU referendum is heightening.
News that Joe Cox planned to release a report about threats to Muslim women in her constituency, has brought attention to the issue, and will unquestionably be examined as part of the inquiry to her murder.
Britain’s First has released a video of them in training camp practicing self defense with knives. The group, which have invaded mosques and halal restaurants, are known to have hostile feelings to words Muslims. They have conducted protests right at the center of Muslim communities in Luton and East London, and are ready for confrontation.
Some Muslim community in Luton, also conducted an ‘anti- unbelievers’ protest in Luton. The video release suggests a preparation of some sort of conflict or war, and is worrying. This tension needs to be contained urgently before it gets out of hand. It is ridiculously stupid for any organization to hold random Muslims responsible for the extremist acts of others on behalf of their faith.
Groups that want every Muslim out of the country should realize they are acting like terrorists themselves. Decent Muslims exist; this making any general categorizing of Muslims as bad or dangerous people, unfair. The recent killings in Orlando, America, were dreadful, and so are all the other terror acts in the world. However, this cannot be a license for intimidating any group because of their religion, no matter how misguided we consider those believes to be.
There is a legitimate call for a lot of resources to be put into building Britain and developing our schools, NHS, housing, first for the good of the British people. Notwithstanding, the entire country should be devoting all its energy into the E.U referendum, not spending time trying to intimidate a religious group because a few extreme ones among them cause havoc from time to time in the world. The training camp video released by Britain’s First, may need to be examined in terms of its goals and purpose. It is desperately sad if Joe Cox actually was murdered just because of her defense of vulnerable Muslim women. Her considerate initiative may have been taken to mean she put Muslims above British citizens. This would be mistaken, when in actual fact Joe Cox was protecting the vulnerable, and also happened to believe Everyone would be better off in the E.U, not out of it.
Joe Cox’s position, as a female politician with the right to having her own opinion and political choice, should have been respected. She may have wanted Britain to stay in the E.U because she was opting for the ‘safe economics’ option, not wanting to risk the collapse of the economy, and preferring an E.U for everybody. Her preference for Britain to stay in the E.U did not make her a traitor in any way. The video gives the impression they are preparing for some sort of battle ahead, which is very worrying. Murder /assassination is not an option in a political process in a civil society. The murder of an MP is the saddest thing that has happened in British politics this year. Mair may well have mental issues, but he planned carefully his act because. His evil and vile plans had been fueled by thoughts and discussions, either heard by others, or which he participated in.
Those of us who are convinced that Britain is better out of the E.U, just needed to push for it and let the Remain camp do their best. Tommy Maire was reflecting a string anti Remain sentiment from some forces, and took a terrorist approach that has marred the ordinary democratic process. All efforts, through dialogue and security measures should be pursued to achieve the most reasonable outcome.
