ISLAMOPHOBIA- the idea of hate directed towards Muslims- may have been connected to the murder of Joe Cox.
Recent revelation that the murdered Labour Mp, was about to release a report warning of an 80 percent rise in Islamophobic incidents in the UK. The report was to warn of a high level of far right activity across Yorkshire.
Scheduled for release on the 29th if June, the report was being prepared alongside Tell Mama- an organisation which releases reports on anti Muslim reports every year. The organisation also works with three police forces whose data are used to store national estimates.
It is clear that Cox’s support for the Remain group caused her death. However, a new line of assessment and inquiry is whether ISLAMOPHOBIA was also a cause.
Was her planned report on ISLAMOPHOBIA known by Maire or the Britain First group? We do know that her accused Killer- Tommy Maire, attended a rally against muslims staged by the far right group. The group have made no secret about their resentment for Muslims.
Cox was a longstanding campaigner against anti Muslim hate crime, and was set to expose the high anti Muslim sentiment against women in her constituency of Bartley and Spen.
Her campaign against ISLAMOPHOBIA blended with her political position for Britain to remain in the EU, was too much. Too much for Tommy Maire to bare.
Terrorism by Islamic terrorists has increased an anti Muslim sentiment in parts if Britain today. However, it should always be remembered that there are several Muslims who do not condone terrorism.
Unfortunately, innocent Muslims are being made to suffer the consequences of Islamic fanatics. Earlier this year, Britain First confronted Muslims in Luton during an anti Muslim protest that made tensions between the Muslim community and the far right group high.
The Luton Muslim community also staged a protest against none Muslims in which some of their members were seen on tape saying many unsavory and provocative things against Muslims. With tensions quite high, it is easy to see a clear picture of how the entire mess led to the death of Joe Cox.
