All schools in Birmingham will be closed on Monday due to heavy snow, Birmingham city council has announced.
Every school in the city will NOT be open on Monday, December 11.
Heavy snow fell across Birmingham city with all bus services cancelled across the West Midlands.
A spokesman for Birmingham City Council said in a press statement: “Due to the recent adverse weather and forecast for freezing conditions overnight, I have instructed all Birmingham City Council-run schools and related school transport services to not operate tomorrow
“This is because conditions will remain very hazardous tomorrow and the safety of our children and young people is of paramount importance. Even if pupils walk to school we will not be able to guarantee enough staff on site to look after them”.
OPEN
Many other mainstream schools across the UK will open on Monday unless hit by a similarly strong wave of snow so debilitating to call for an emergency. Most primary and secondary schools in the Uk have at least another week before they close for the Christmas breaks. Head teachers always run the full curriculum for the semester except in extraordinary circumstances.
More sudden closures in other U.K schools will force more parents to make rapid adjustments in response to such drastic emergency.
.“I would strongly advise all other schools within Birmingham to do the same.”
