Drink Driver Car Thief Arrested In Leeds After Police Chase

By Eric King-

A drink driver was arrested in Leeds on Monday morning after refusing to stop for police officers , leading to a chase that ended up in a crash.

Members of the road policing unit detained the driver in Yorkshire on suspicion of drink driving, theft of a motor vehicle and being in the UK illegally. One passenger was also arrested, although two others escaped on foot before they could be detained.

Cops had noticed the man driving erratically on the wrong side of the road and mounted an immediate chase when he tried to escape. The scenario of in which a drunk illegal immigrant steals a car, drives on the wrong side of the road and then tries to escape capture is strange and perhaps better than fiction. Only last month a teenager caused the death of five other teenagers when he foolishly stole a vehicle from Headingley in Leeds and eventually smashed the car in Meanwood.

With the festive season very much in gear, it is important for motorists to be aware of the many irresponsible drivers who will happily go behind the wheel with an excessive amount of alcohol in their system. Consciousness of this fact can be helpful in making law abiding motorists diligent in their driving because of their awareness that car thieves and drink drivers may also be sharing the same roads and motorways as responsible drivers.
