The husband of a teacher has been charged with the murder of a teacher from Castleford whose body was found in South Yorkshire.
The body of Abi Fisher, 29, was discovered in undergrowth off Southmoor Road, near Brierley on Sunday, West Yorkshire Police said.
Matthew Fisher, 29, of Walton Park Street, Castleford, has been charged with murder, and is due before Leeds Magistrates Court on Wednesday. The news of the charge has sent shock waves to the Leeds community, and serves as a grim reminder of the importance of choosing once partner very carefully.
The presumption of innocence until proven guilty remains the case, though the Crown Prosecution generally seek overwhelming evidence before issuing charges of murder.
The force said Ms Fisher’s family is being supported by officers.
Murder charges of men against their wives can be very traumatizing for both families, especially the wife’s family.
When a man and woman say their wedding vows, those in attendance expect they will do their best to stick together in sickness and in health, till death do them part. In the worst and irreconcilable of cases, they may separate or divorce. The last thing family members expect is one to murder the other, or be suspected of such heinous act.
West Yorkshire Police launched a desperate hunt for the 29-year-old and conducted searches for the well loved teacher, but yesterday they cops found her body in the undergrowth, just off Southmoor Road, near Brierley, South Yorkshire.

“In particular, her passion for science inspired countless children over the years – she made a real difference to so many lives.”
