Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is to address university students as part of a live broadcast to a number of UK universities. The event on Friday evening has been organized by the Ukrainian Students Union (USU).
Zelensky will stress the importance of continued international support for his war-torn country which is under siege from Russian forces.
Universities participating in the include Birmingham, Cambridge, City University of London, Coventry, Glasgow, LSE, Manchester, Oxford and UCL
President Zelensky will be speaking to students at Coventry University which usually hosts cinema nights. Just 75 tickets have made available for this event and they were all snapped up within hours.
Ukrainian flags are already draped on the front row of the cinema.
A representative of Varsity student paper from Cambridge University told The Eye Of Media.Com: ”it will be a simultaneous broadcasting going out to various student debating groups around the Uk.
Only members of university student unions can attend the event.
University students in different campuses are expected to subsequently discuss and debate the war in the weeks ahead.
Cambridge University last week for announced support for university students from Ukraine affected by the war intends to fund the studies of “upwards of 20 students” with the Rowan Williams Cambridge Studentship, a Cambridge Trust initiative set up to help students from areas of conflict.
The scholarships are to be given to students who already have a conditional offer to study at Cambridge next year, will fully fund the students’ tuition, maintenance, travel and visa costs.
