By Dylan O'Sullivan-
Belfast Crown Court has heard evidence from Ulster rugby player Stuart Olding regarding the night associated with the rape allegation.
Most notable in Olding’s account to police was the detail of him ejaculating on his stomach after having what he insisted was consensual sex with the alleged rape victim
As the high profile case in this dramatic rape trial resumed on Tuesday , the court heard evidence from officers from Olding and the PSNI’s Rape Crime Unit.
The men are accused of raping a woman in Mr Jackson’s bedroom during a house-party. All the defendants, 26 year old Mr.Jackson, 24 year old Mr.Olding, 26 year old Mr. Mcllroy, and 25 year old Mr.Harrison- all from Belfast- deny the allegations against them and have pleaded not guilty to rape, indecent exposure, and perverting the course of justice. The Court heard Olding’s account to police that he ejaculated on his stomach, his account drawing some embarrassing giggles in the court gallery.
A detective constable confirmed counsel to Mr Olding’s counsel that he arrested Frank O’Donoghue QC, on June 30th, 2016, two days after the alleged rape, and one hour after the complainant’s first formal police interview.
The detective concurred with counsel that Mr Olding was co-operative during his interview, and described his clothing on the day of the interview in what seemed a pointless detail for the court.
Describing the encounter with the complainant, Mr Olding told police she had performed oral sex on him for five minutes. She was “on her knees and bent over.” At one point she asked him and Mr Jackson to go get condoms, he told police.
Mr Olding said he ejaculated on his stomach, got up and left the room. He cleaned himself with toilet roll in an adjoining bathroom before going to sleep on a couch in a different room, he said.
WARRANT
The court was told by Mr O’Donoghue that the police secured a warrant to search the rugby player’s home while he was being interviewed, but they did not seize the clothes he had been wearing. The jury were later told medical evidence will be presented in court on Tuesday afternoon, and warned to reserve judgement until they have heard all the evidence.
