North Korean Leader Says Nuclear Button Is On His Desk

By Gavin Mackintosh-

North Korea’s leader, Kim Jong Un used his New Year message to warn America that he has a “nuclear button” on his desk that is always within reach.

The bullish dictator boasted that his country achieved the historic feat of completing its nuclear forces in 2017

The speech, broadcast on North Korean television on Monday morning confirms the ongoing tensions between North Korea and the United States.

The maligned leader repeated his disputed claim that North Korea has the capability to strike all of the US mainlands with its nuclear weapons. He concluded this to mean that America would never be able to start a war against the country.

“These weapons will be used only if our security is threatened”, he added, in an effort to balance his bragadocious claims.

King Jung-Un added that North Korea is going to focus on “mass producing nuclear warheads and ballistic missiles for operational deployment” in 2018. However, he expressed an interest in negotiations with Seoul, saying he was “open to dialogue”.

“When it comes to North-South relations, we should lower the military tensions on the Korean Peninsula to create a peaceful environment. Both the North and the South should make efforts,” he added.

The North Korean leader continues to pose a threat and danger to international peace, but restraint is still the best response to his arrogant behavior.
