EE and Vodafone are celebrating being named the best UK phone networks for mobile internet in the UK.
Data from Tutela Technologies have ranked EE, Vodafone, O2 and Three, according to IS Previews. The top ranking was based on their mobile broadband speeds across 4G and 3G signals. EE was impressively ranked best for overall Mobile Experience, including having the fastest 4G.
The research study recorded an average 4G download speed of 18,072 kbps on EE – nearly double the average speed of Three, which came in at 9,518 kbps.
Vodafone surprisingly came out on top in the 3G stakes because of its low latency. The network has previously struggled to have a good image following the huge fine imposed on them in 2016. They have shown some progress and improvements in their commercial activity, but continue to be one of the least trusted of the networks.
EE also had the speediest 4G uploads, with an average of 7,522 kbps.
The network also came second in the 4G category, ranking above O2 and Three, the latter of which placed at the bottom of all three categories.
The data was collected from Android phones between July 1 and September 30, 2017, from an average of more than 13,400 unique devices.
The Sony Xperia XZ was the fastest smart phone in the data with an average 4G download speed of 12.61 mbps.
