Diana Tapes Made Public Leaves Sour Taste

Diana Tapes Made Public Leaves Sour Taste

By Sammie Jones

As we entered the month that marks the twentieth anniversary of Princess Diana’s death, there was never a doubt that somebody somewhere would have commercial ideas.

Afterall, it is a big landmark year, two decades after the princess of Wales died in a car crash in Paris. A woman whose human touch affected us all in a big way nationally must surely have the 20th anniversary of her life celebrated by serving the public with intimate details of he rprivte life.

Her butler has already made a fortune appearing on television shows all over the world . Now, it would appear the turn of others to milk whatever close association they had with her. Private recordings made by her sppech coach has now been seen fit to be fed to the public. Once in the public domain, the press have the right to repeat factual details for the purposes of readership conumption.

Today, The Sun Newspaper published excerpts of the Princess’s secret tapes, after all it is schedulled to be aired on Sunday by Channel 4. The Sun Newspaper are big believers in promoting the public right to know, though there was nothing special in the information we learnt from those excepts. However, they give some of us a bit more information.

LOST

We all knew Diana felt despertely lost in a failed marriage with Prince Charles, but didn’t know that the Queen said he was useless. The princess’s confession to have been traumatised by Prince Charles response to a reporter who asked during his engagement, if he was in love. His response ”whatever in love means” woud have hurt any woman looking forward to marrying the man she loved.

That comment on a public platform certainly seems heartless and inconsiderate, unless the Prince had made it clear that marriage and love were not ideal goals for him. Prince Charles response to Diana’s question as to what Camilla was doing around is heartrendering.

His comments that he did not want to be the only prince that did not have a mistress is an embarassing revelation to be fed to the public. Revelation that the heir to the throne had no consideration for the feelings of a young woman who was his lover and the mother of his children.

The mere fact that these tapes were obtained under private arrangements relating to a speech therapy session to help her public speaking is what makes it immoral to easily place that information before the public. Who knows, there might have been a secret arrangement betwen Diana and her speech coach to reveal the tapes many years after she dies.

That may be the only defense that can be given, considering the Princess is no longer here to confirm or deny it. There are still quetions to be asked as to why the princess would allow her speach coach to keep hold of succh private information. Her coach may have told her he needed to continuously assess her progress by listening to it several times in private.
