A 21 year old who stabbed his mum has appeared in Chelmsford Crown Court for sentencing, until a conflicting issue of significance arose. The argument previously put that he was a paranoia schri became contentious in court.

Emmanuel Kalejaiye, 21, brutally killed his mother at their home in Wethersfield Way, Wickford, on September 26, 2013. His mental state was previously used as his defense, after the vicious killer first claimed to be suffering from mental illness. Subsequent confessions he is said to have made that his claims of mental illness were false raised doubts as to whether he indeed suffers from mental illness. It was later believed he made up symptoms in an attempt to escape justice.

One of the psychologists later changed her opinion, stating she believed Kalejaiye was now suffering from paranoid schizophrenia, because his behaviour had altered. She argued that his behavior was consistent with that of a person suffering from that condition. Sentencing will be postponed until the 26th of May, where Judge , Christopher Ball will decide whether Kalejaiye will be imprisoned or sectioned under The mental Health Act. If Kalejaiye was suffering from paranoia schizophrenia, this will be a big blow to the system, for failing to keep him under tight and efficient regulation. If on the other hand, Kalejaiye was of sound mind then it makes him a really horrible human being. How could anyone kill their mum, unless they are sick?

We will have those answers on May 26 on what will send alarm bells on the type of people that may be walking among us. The details are sickening. The knowledge the jury had that his mother had been stabbed 40 times was worsened when jurors got an eye saw watching CCTV footages showing Kalejaiye buying knives, rubber gloves and hammers. He also was seen buying a light fuel. Police discovered his mother’s body in the kitchen floor of her home and found evidence linking him to the gruesome murder of his birth mother. A psychiatrist examined him and concluded he suffered from paranoid schizophrenia and depressive disorder. That position is now being disputed

During the trial, jurors were shown CCTV images of Kalejaiye visiting shops to buy knives, hammers, rubber gloves and lighter fuel.

As the attack took place, Tolu Kalejaiye desperately tried to phone her boyfriend, but the call went to his voicemail.

Kalejaiye’s plan unravelled after the boyfriend later picked up the message and heard the victim’s screams.

Police soon discovered Tolu Kalejaiye’s body on the kitchen floor.

Officers found a mass of evidence linking the accused- whose friends said he was obsessed with paying with vodoo cars- to her death.

He was examined by a psychiatrist, who concluded he was suffering from paranoid schizophrenia and a depressive disorder.
