By Eric King Americans are on high alert following calls from Isis for the "slaughter’ of Americans voting in Tuesday’s Presidential election.
The terror group has called on its followers to attack voters in the election and has told Muslims not to cast a vote.
It comes after the FBI was reportedly probing a major terror attack planned for the day before the US elections in multiple states.
Texas, New York and Virginia have been highlighted as expected targets, but no specific intelligence on precise locations are known.
The new ISIS threats were published by the terror group’s Al Hayat media centre, putting Americans on high alert.
High Alert
The high alert was initially sparked following the ISIS publication which read that militants “have come to slaughter you and smash your ballot boxes”.
The terror group also wrote there is no difference between the Republican and Democratic parties in the US in their “policies against Islam and Muslims”.
The high alert in America comes as polls prepare to open for the closely-fought race between Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump. American communities will be expected to be vigilant as the security service defends against attacks here in America
America has boosted its cyber defences amid fears hackers could target electronic voting systems on polling day.
Cyber security experts have talked down chances that a hack could alter election outcomes are remote, in part because voting machines are typically not connected to the internet.
Violence
A separate potential for violence over the final election results are high given the very high emotions of recent months.
A number of armed groups around the country are schedulled to turn up in unprecedented numbers to monitor voting sites for signs of election fraud. Americans will also be on high alert over the potential of internally organised violence by groups discontent with the final election results.
Tuesday will be a historic day for all Americans, and in fact the whole world. The recent news of Hilary Clinton’s clearance over email investigations will have settled the voting decision of some voters. Others would have already made their minds up against Hilary Clinton. In the event of Clinton’s victory, Trump’s supporters would cry foul over the most recent announcement of her clearance, which Donald Trump insists is tantamount to a weakness of the FBI.
Some of Trump’s fans will also believe the elections were rigged if Clinton wins, despite any provision of concrete proof about any rigging. The U.S elections are generally believed to be above board, though it is impossible to say with certainty that this is indeed the case.
A Trump victory could easily present violence of an unpredictable nature, with anything possible from supporters with an extreme passion. There are only 24 hours to go before the final countdown to the elections.
