The 8 year ban levied on former Fifa president, Sepp Blatter, and uefa boss, Platini after an ethics investigation has sealed the fate of the pair. The ethics investigation team has found them guilty of breaches surrounding a £1.3m disloyal payment made to Platini in 2011. According to the ethics committee, they had demonstrated ”an abusive execution of their positions. Blatter said he was really sorry he had been used as ” a punching ball” and had become tainted in the eyes of humanity. Hinting at health problems, he said he did not want to say much about his health, but said only God and good genes had seen him through to attend the press conference he was addressing.
If Blatter has indeed been made a scapegoat, then he will be exonerated in due course. That finding seems unlikely because before an ethics committee finds one of its former leaders guilty of misconduct, they would have reasonable grounds for arriving at such damning verdict. Blatter and Platini seem to have been lived a life of extravagance, using the corridors of power to maximise their empire at the expense of justice and fair play.
Now, the epic consequences of their improprieties has taken its toll and brought the curtains down on the pair, among several already indicted for misfeasance of of office and fraudulent charges. If all the judgements pronounced against him are erroneous, hindsight will give a picture of what really happened, when the time comes.
