Mohamed Noor from Somalia, was one of two Minneapolis police officers who responded to a 911 call reporting a suspected assault on the 5100 block of Washburn Avenue South.
Instead of the complainant receiving an award for highlighting the suspected criminal offence, she was inexplicably killed by Noor, who already has three complaints filed against him in separate incidents before the killing. One of the complaints was closed with no further action, whilst the other two remain open.
One case was closed without discipline, while two more cases remain open.
One of the civil complaints relating to an allegation of false imprisonment, assault and battery against Noor and two other officers is quite serious. One of the women claims the officers forced their way into her residence and grabbed her wrists and arms, worsening an existing shoulder injury of hers.
Noor who joined the Minneapolis Police Department in March 2015 to become the Fifth Precinct’s first Somali-American police officer has many serious questions to answer. He has expressed his condolences to the family of his victim, but those condolences will not be accepted by her family so easily.
Their loved one is dead and no justified reason has been provided for it.
RECKLESS
The spate of reckless police killings in America has been bad for years, with black people often on the receiving end of a number of senseless police killings. Could Noore have been privately trying to avenge the deaths of some black victims of American police brutality by killing this woman? Or could he have had some other ulterior motive?
The circumstances of the killing is so suspicious, one can easily be forgiven for believing the killing was calculated murder. The failure to provide an explanation of a killing is incredibly shocking and terrifically alarming.
Instead of finding words to explain the killing as a mishap, 31 yearold Noor sent his attorney from Plunkett Law Office who had nothing useful or relevant to say. The statement, which really is an insult to the family of the victim read:
Officer Mohamed Noor extends his condolences to the family and anyone else who has been touched by this event. He takes their loss seriously and keeps them in his daily thoughts and prayers.
“He came to the United States at a young age and is thankful to have had so many opportunities. He takes these events very seriously because, for him, being a police officer is a calling. He joined the police force to serve the community and to protect the people he serves. Officer Noor is a caring person with a family he loves and he empathizes with the loss others are experiencing.
“The current environment for police is difficult, but Officer Noor accepts this as part of his calling. We would like to say more, and will in the future. At this time, however, there are several investigations ongoing and Officer Noor wants to respect the privacy of the family and asks the same in return during this difficult period.
Not good enough! Noore’s attorney is doing what attorney’s are paid to do, which is to defend. The so called caring police officer did not demonstrate the caring element he is credited to have when he shot and killed a defenceless woman who posed no threat to him or any of his colleagues as far as we know.
The attorney says they would have loved to say more and will say more in the future. This rubbish coming from an attorney is closer is as close to gibrish as words can get. He and his client should say whatever ‘more’ they have to say now.
They should have said more by now, but appear to be buying time to figure out their best defense for a hopeless situation which cannot be defended.
