School parents are challenging the judgement of teachers , and frustrating their efforts to educate children the way they see fit.
After a few weeks investigation into the issue across six different schools, the eye of media.com found that half of the schools we spoke to had encountered the problem.
None of the schools is willing to have their name or school on record over the problems they had faced, except to state that matters were being kept under control. Complaining parents are accused of taking the side of their children over teachers caught up in discipline row with troublesome students.
The eye of media.com has been interacting with some parents over the issue and speaking to some children, in order to assess the details of some of the issues. One worried teacher who insisted on her anonymity, told the eye of media.com :
” Some parents give us alot of trouble over our judgement in dealing with their children. They refused to listen to our professional judgement , but stay fixed to their own warped judgement . They always take their child’ s side and believe their untrue story.
They put the responsibility on us to bring up their own children correctly , when it’s their job to do so. Parents need to realise that it is their responsibility to raise their children in a respectable manner , and not for us to do. We tell them what we expect of them, and they must trust our judgement anytime we punish them for their behaviour.
“children who challenge and abuse their teacher’s behaviour have not been properly brought up by their parents”.
The eye of media.com is seeking to intervene in the case of some of the disputes, but head teachers say data protection laws prevent them from disclosing private details of issues between their staff and their students or their parents. Parents will have to give written consent for such details to be divulged.
None of the few parents we have spoken to has expressed any willingness to consent to such arrangement.
Three members of the eye of media.com were asked to leave the premises of one London secondary school on Monday, as we engaged some of their students in a chat during their lunch hour break as part of our investigation into the matter.
THREATENED
The eye of media.com has heard that some teachers actually feel threatened by some of the parents who have challenged them. Teachers are already tasked with a heavy burden of preparing good teaching material , without the unnecessary extra burden posed by nuisance children or parents.
There should be wise guidance given to parents on what is expected of them in relation to those who teach their children. Teachers are qualified but the children are not, neither are many nuisance parents.
The position of authority and supervision should be respected when it comes to the education of their child , and parents to explain any issues they have with teachers , in a diplomatic way.
Some members of the eye of media.com will be keeping a close eye on the matter , and trying hard to get involved in some of these issues . It is likely the education secretary will be called to give some guidance on these type of issues
