West Yorkshire Police have revealed that they seized £500,000 cash from a car on a motorway.Operating Cops from West Yorkshire Police were working as part of a special operation on May 7 when they stopped a vehicle on the M6, in Cumbria.
Inside the vehicle was £500,000 worth of cash, leading to the arrest of a 39-year-old man from the Halifax area, on suspicion of money laundering and concealing criminal property.
Cops were forced to release the man under investigation as enquiries continue.
Ramona Senior, head of West Yorkshire Police’s Economic Crime Unit, said: “This arrest was intelligence led and part of the Force’s Programme Precision which looks to tackle serious and organised crime.
“I would like to thank our colleagues in Cumbria Police for their assistance with this matter.”
