Rugby League World Cup organisers are investigating an alleged punch-up between England star Victor Radley and Irish international James Bentley in Manchester on Sunday night.
The Sydney Morning Herald reported that Bentley was the instigator with the allegations prompting an investigation and that England Rugby League officials are expected to file a report into the incident.
Complaints were made to World Cup organisers after a physical altercation involving the Sydney Roosters lock in Worsley, where England have been staying during the tournament.
The England Rugby League expected to file a report into the incident. “The RFL have been made aware of allegations and are currently investigating the matter,” said a spokesperson for the governing body.
The explosive story alleges that the pair were involved in a ‘physical altercation’ in Worsley, where the England national team’s hotel has been located during the tournament.
According to the report, two other England players were involved in what appears to have been a chaotic night in the aftermath of the defeat. It’s claimed that Samoan players, who were staying in the same hotel, were woken up in the middle of the night by people knocking on their room doors. It’s alleged that members of the England team were the culprits.
It has also been alleged two other England stars were involved in a brawl at the team hotel.
England, of course, crashed out of the World Cup on Saturday after going down 27-26 against Samoa in a heartbreaking Golden Point extra-time period.
Officials threatened to call the police on Bentley but then returned, which is when the incident with Radley is said to have taken place.
