A woman whose body parts were recovered from a canal in London is the alleged killer’s own mother.
Arizo Nour, of Northumberland Crescent in Feltham, appeared before the Old Bailey on August 11 and was accused of the murder of Karima Nour(pictured), the defendant’s mother.
The 33 year old appeared at the Old Bailey on Friday charged with murder, and was remanded in custody by Judge Simon Mayo KC until a further hearing on December 1, when she will enter a plea.
On Monday, the victim’s identity was revealed for the first time, a week after the grisly canal discovery.
Last week, prosecutor Louise Oakley told the Old Bailey that police had first been called to Mrs Nour’s home in Feltham after family concerns about her welfare.
Reporting restrictions which had banned identification of the pair’s relationship were lifted by Judge Simon Mayo KC today (August 14) following submissions by the media.
Concerns for the welfare of a person were raised in a home in Northumberland Crescent just after 10.25pm on August 6.
While no one was found inside the property, officers discovered signs of a disturbance.
Chief Superintendent Sean Wilson, local policing commander in west London, said: “This was a shocking incident and my thoughts are with the friends and family of Karima Nour.”
The investigation is being led by detectives from the Met’s Specialist Crime Command.
A spokesperson for Metropolitan Police said: “A woman has appeared in court charged with the murder of her mother in Hounslow.
“Arizo Nour, 33 (26.12.89) of Northumberland Crescent, Feltham, appeared at the Old Bailey on Friday, 11 August.
“She was remanded in custody to appear at the same court on 1 December.
“This follows an incident where police were called to an address in Northumberland Crescent, Feltham, at 10.26pm on Sunday, 6 August to reports of a concern for welfare.
“Officers attended. Nobody was found inside the property, however there were signs that a disturbance had taken place.
“As a result of enquiries by officers, searches were carried out in the Grand Union Canal, off Bulls Bridge Lane, Southall and near to Greenford Road, on Monday, 7 and Thursday, 10 August.
“The remains of the body of Karima Nour, aged 57, were found in the canal.”
