It is apparent that in the past eighteen years, our handsome Will and smoking hot Jada Smith have built a reputation as being Hollywood’s unshakable couple- well atleast one of them. All couples have problems and being famous doesn’t change that but who would of thought the rough patches in their marriage had nearly caused it to crumble, even facing years of rumours the pair have always proven the haters wrong.
Will Smith admitted recently that within his highly craved marriage, that there had been rocky times where their relationship had more or less died. Died is definitely a harsh word and the actor didn’t hold back with regards to honesty when shedding light upon his home life. Jada and Will have continued irrespective of what their love had thrown at them. Instead of calling it quits, the pair simply worked hard to find a new way to make things work for them.
MARRIAGE AND KIDS:
Will and Jada have kept use in awe over the past two decades when “The fresh prince” and Miss Pinkett wed way back in 1997. Jada gushes about her 46-year-old spouse like a teenager “He is more than just a husband to me, Words can’t describe what he is too me”
Smith had been married to Sheree Zampino 5 years previously to his commitment to his current wife. They had one son together who was names after him, Willard Carroll “Trey” Smith III. The divorcees first born was delivered on November 11, 1992. However, the pair did not survive the shackles of matrimony and later divorced in 1995. Trey, Wills eldest is rather musical himself, following in his fathers footsteps but being the least known out of all 3 off spring. His father appeared in the music video for the 1998 single “Just the Two of Us”.
Since marrying his love, actress Jada Koren Pinkett, the love birds have two children together: Jaden Christopher Syre Smith (born 1998), his co-star and limelight stealer in the movie “The Pursuit of Happiness”, and Willow Camille Reign Smith (born 2000), who also appeared along side her father as his daughter in the zombie vampire apocalypse flick “I Am Legend”. Smith and his brother Harry own Treyball Development Inc. A company based in Beverly Hills named after Wills first born, Trey.
It seems the pair can do no wrong- not only are they talented but their cubs are too. Not only have his two youngest starred along side him in a few blockbusters but they are both succeeding independently. Willow is a recording artist who had a massive break with “I Whip my Hair (back and forth)”, the multi hairstyle vocalist had use breaking out into dance to her pop songs whilst her big brother Jaden took on the role as the Karate Kid in the long awaited Remake. If starring against daddy wasn’t enough then Jackie Chan should do it. News has it that the cubs are breaking the charts and cinemas again this year with their returns and Willow isn’t even 15 yet. Being born with a Silver spoon is definitely a good look.
THE FIGHT:
However all this fame and money doesn’t always keep the flame alive -the pair have had to sacrifice and suffer due to time apart. Will told pals “Whatever you have and however amazing it is at some point it can die and you are going to have to rebirth something new. You have to be willing to ride the waves. There’s going to be some flat days and some stormy days, and that has to be OK. It can’t always be perfect”
She explained: ”We used to have all these rules, but as you go on in your relationship, you just get into a flow. Will, to me, encompasses everything. It’s almost as if calling him ‘my husband’ is too small of a word for what he means in my life… I think I had a very stuck idea of what a husband looks like, what a wife should be”
Our own expectations can and do lead to disappointments it seems but letting go means accepting a person for whom they really are.
“Once I broke all of that, a whole new world opened for me and man, oh, man, I got to see him in all his glory. And so that’s what it’s evolved into. And I’m just ecstatic about it.”
This isn’t the first time the couple have had to jump to defend their marriage from vicious rumors. In 2013, Jada responded to rumors about her and Will having an open relationship: She set the record straight with a sharp statement.
“Will and I both can do whatever we want, because we trust each other to do so,” she clarified. “This does NOT mean we have an open relationship…this means we have a grown one”
This shows that the pair are still very much in love and no matter what comes their way they are ready with sword and shield to fight defend it. 18 years is a long time and when we put it into perspective the pair are slaying the likes of Beyoncé and Jay Z who have only been married for 7 years. It’s time we started idolising “The Smiths” who have stood the real test of time. Now here is a story all about how my life got flipped right upside down! Isn’t that just the catchiest programme theme song of all time. Contagious is an understatement and even writing it, i had to finish singing the whole song and just like that tune, There’s no breaking the pair in the land of Bel Air. Perhaps, some things last forever
