By Tim Parsons-
WBC world heavyweight champion Wilder has sent a chilling warning to Tyson Fury ahead of their heavyweight title fight next weekend. The American WBC world heavyweight champion-unbeaten in 40 fights with 30 Ko’s was in the last day of his serious training regime for one of the biggest heavyweight contests in recent times.
He is up against the equally confident 6ft 9 inches Tyson Fury, himself unbeaten in 27 fights. Fury has vowed to bring the WBC belt back to Britain, having discredited Wilder’s unbeaten record and boxing ability. However. Wilder was in destructive mood on Friday when he told reporters that his unexplanable power is capable of killing a man. He said:
“When my mind transforms it is a scary feeling because it is a source of power that takes over and allows me to feel like I know I can kill a man.
“People have a problem with me saying it because I can do so.
“People have a problem, because I do possess the power to do it
When I have a feeling come over me, I don’t know the strength of my own power. It’s unexplainable.
“The week of the fight is when I start to transform, it just takes hold, especially the day of the fight.
“I’m no longer myself, nothing is funny, everything is serious.
He said: “A fighter is not going to stay in the ring with me if I don’t want them to. I have a killer instinct that is crazy.“If you are hurt and wounded, you are going to get out of there. I don’t get paid for overtime, so why sit around? Why wait?“I like to give the people what they want to see, a devastating knockout, and I deliver that each and every time”.
The American has indeed delivered every time. the only man to have gone the distance with the powerful world champion is Canadia Birnade Stivens, who lost on points when Wilder took the WBC title from him in 2015. Wilder knocked Stivens out in a rematch 2 years later in 2017, in which Stivens lasted only one round. There is very little chance he will get rid of Fury that quickly, but is mentally preparing to wreak harvoc against a man who has never been beaten in his entire career.
The fight is expected to be full of entertainment as Fury, who is two inches taller, and will be over two stones heavier, bids to achieve the greatest come back in boxing history. Wilder plans to be menacing and treat boxing fans with a knockout never to be forgotten. It won’t be an easy night for the explosive American, but it will go in the history books as one of the most memorable, if he really brings down the massive Fury.
