By Gabriel Princewill-
Parliament must collectively find a workable deal for the Uk leaving the European Union.
The notion of collective responsibility on which parliamentary sovereignty is based implicitly indicates the joint duty to the house to contemplate the best deal possible, and find one that is not problematic.
This may be difficult in practise for anti Brexit Mps who loathe the very idea of Brexit but yet need to appreciate the necessity for a common goal to move forward and end this tedious impasse. The best package deal needs to be identified quickly . If no such package exists, we equally need to know fast so we know what we are in for.
Brexit negotiations has for a while been very daunting on the British public who have had to endure the uncertainty of a historical shift in politics without any progress or closure on the matter. The level of acrimony between Mps played out in full in parliament has been uninspiring, raising long term concerns about the ability of Parliament to truly get a grip of the task at hand.
An exhaustive assessment is necessary of the efficacy of various parties to evaluate the best possible scenario for a Brexit deal, and assess the requirements for the materialization of that most favourable outcome.
Whether such a deal exists is important and will help us assess the EU’s position in these negotiations. However, we need very clever, knowledgeable, and dispassionate minded politicians, lawyers, and other professional experts to achieve this.
Mps alone should be able to deliver this if they were clever and dispassionate enough to figure it out. Nonetheless, it would probably be argued to be a valued judgement, but the most compelling would win the heart and minds of the people.
DIVISION
This is the worst time for division in British politics, a period of strong historical magnitude that requires the deepest contribution of thought from politicians. At a time like this, the united front of parliament with respect to the goal of finding a deal is of paramount importance.
The call for unity is not a search for some artificial consensus on the political persuasions of various Mps on this very divisive topic of Brexit but rather a shine of the torch on the real issue for all not to loose focus on the goal.
Party politics often has the tendency to obscure even the most obvious of truths because of the powerful sentiments of partisanship and its related association with political rivalry. Yet, the legitimate task of finding a good deal must transcend other considerations at this time in history.
A spokesperson for The Parliamentary Committee told The Eye Of Media.Com:
” The main goal of parliament is to find a respectable deal for the Uk to leave The EU. In the meantime when the government is working on perfecting a deal, parliamentary members will be free to scrutinise the proposals and keep sight of the destination of leaving with a good deal.
Those unsatisfied with any terms will have their views looked at but many Mps will want more time for in depth discussions across all fronts, including The EU.”
FAILURE
Any failure to attain a workable deal or pigeon hole the real obstacle in time, will be an error of monumental proportions. Ill feeling and resentment among Mps must be put to one side for the sake of posterity. History won’t forgive a lousy bunch of politicians or professionals if they collectively fail to nail the real problem or solution.
BEST
What is the best deal that can be struck, and in the event of a no deal Brexit, how high are the Uk’s prospect of survival? These are the serious questions that face all brits. The Uk’s best interest must be prioritised, party politics must not be allowed to usurp foresight in an event as historical as leaving The European Union.
