Violent Rapper Dizzee Rascal has been charged with assaulting a woman during a domestic row.
The 36-year-old grime artist hitmaker, also known as Dylan Kwabena Mills, who admitted being violent and disruptive as a kid is set to appear in court next month following an incident at a residential address in Streatham on 8 June.
He was arrested on suspicion of common assault against a woman, whose identity has been withheld.
Cops said the rapper has been charged with assault after an incident at a residential address in Streatham on 8 June.
“Officers attended and a woman reported minor injuries. She did not require hospital treatment.
“Mills is due to appear at Croydon Magistrates’ Court on Friday, 3 September.”
It comes after East London star Dizzee was awarded an MBE in The Queen’s Birthday Honours last year for his services to music.
Dizzee, who has his own record label Dirtee Stank, has had a complex history, attaining his first album, Boy in da corner’ at the young age of 18, nut registering his major commercial success six years later in his 2009 album Tongue n’ Cheek.
He performed at the 2012 London olympic ceremony after winning Best British Solo Artist at the BRITs in 2010.
A nuisance as a school kid, he was expelled from four schools in East London, notoriously earning the name Rascal from one of his teachers. As well as fighting teachers in school, the rapper admitted being a car thief in his youth mentioned and robbing pizza delivery men.
The latest charge is a reminder to aspiring artists that fame and fortune is no substitute for good character, which necessarily stands on its own.
He fulfils the saying that ‘you can take the man man off the street, but you can’t take the street off the man”.
