U.S Tennis Legend John McEnroe Flawed Support For Djokavic Participation In U.S Open Ignores Collective Vaccination Rule

By Aaron Miller-

American former tennis legend John McEnroe branding of U.S rules preventing Djokavic from participating in the U.S open as a joke, is hereby exposed as being distorted due to its failure to comment on or address the wider rule that foreigners as a whole are not allowed to the U.S unless they have been vaccinated.

Celebrities and well wishers calling for an exception to be made of the tennis player who was deported from Australia expose their misguided judgements in the process, acting star struck in their call for special treatment for Djokavic.  The show of loyalty to the famous tennis star lacks the credibility of  integrity, one  which cannot be in tact without view of others affected by America’s vaccination policy for those wanting to enter the country from abroad.

The idea that Djokavic’s goals in visiting America is more important than other obscure individuals all over the world with important missions in the U.S is narrow minded and ignorant.

McEnroe joins other voices before him in  demonstrating support for Djokavic  without considering the million others who cannot enter the U.S due to the same rules requiring vaccination as an entry requirement .

Supporting Djokavic’s participation in the U.S open without wide criticism and lobbying for the overall removal of the vaccination rules preventing unvaccinated people from entering the U.S is both  hypocritical and mentally backward. The idea that Djokavic be allowed to participate in the U.S opens must equally mean the vaccination rules be completely withdrawn given the impossibility for both scenarios to exist together.

Support for the continuation of the vaccination rules for those entering the U.S cannot logically accompany calls for Djokavic to be included in the tennis tournament.

Some have in the past implored The White House to revise its vaccination rules, but many of those have done it with the sole objective of having Djokavic participate in the tournament.

McEnroe has been all over the media expressing his disappointment that Djokavic cannot enter the U.S to compete at the U.S open, completely forgetting to address the wider picture involving why  Djokavic cannot participate.

He described the fact Djokavic may not be able to play as “bull—-” .

“Well, first of all, I think it’s BS,” McEnroe told Outkick. “That’s what I think. He should be allowed to play. My personal opinion is that I’ve been vaccinated, I had the booster shot, and that’s up to the individual.

If I were him and I’m not him, you know, he’s won a lot more Majors than me and it’s because he has dug in his heels and found that will that very few people in any sport have ever found. That’s part of what has made him so great.

He sticks to his guns and is perfectly entitled to make the decision.”

Mc Enroe said: ‘I don’t think it’s fair. I think it’s a joke.

‘I would have had the vaccine and gone and played but he’s got very strong beliefs and you have to respect that.

What Mc Enroe refers to as a joke is not the fact foreigners are prohibited from entering the U.S unvaccinated, but rather than Djokavic will not be able to participate in the U.S opens. Such perspective is itself a joke  given the link between participation in the U.S open and  vaccination being part of the entry requirements to the country.

US Open 2022: Novak Djokovic savaged over 'selfish' act amid saga

Tennis ace: Novak Djokavic

The husband of former French tennis player, Marion Bartoli,  Yahya Boumediene has also added  his support behind Novak Djokovic as he thinks the 21-time Grand Slam champion definitely deserves to compete at the US Open. Boumediene, a Belgian footballer who married Bartoli in 2019, took to Instagram, where he revealed how he honestly feels about the US Open without Djokovic in it.

“No Novak, No Tennis,” Boumediene wrote on his Instagram Story.

He should have been replied ”No vaccination, No U.S airport”

The Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) have today  updated their website, which has left unchanged their rule that unvaccinated foreign nationals remain banned from entering the U.S.

With this latest update, supporters of  the 21-time Grand Slam champion  have been put out of their misery , as it is now confirmed that Novak Djokavic definitely will not be able to compete in the tournament beginning in just four days, while the draw will be made on Thursday.

An exception for the tennis star would have made a mockery of the U.S authorities.

Djokavic can sit back to a glass of wine at home(if he  at least allows that in his body) and watch other vaccinated stars compete in the tournament.

If the tennis star’s  personal principles are that he is against vaccination, he must be consistent with those views and not wish for an unfair exception.

McEnroe was contacted for comment.
