The U.S Supreme Court has vacated the case of a transgender individual over a dispute of school bathrooms.
The case of Gavin Grimme which had been agreed by justices to be heard last October was vacated in light of the new directions from the Trump administration. Transgenders all over the U.S have been locked in legal disputes with various faith schools over the insistence that they must use toilets that match their gender of birth.
However, the Trump administration have altered directions involving LGBT and transgender rights in the Supreme Court, putting transgenders who wish to use toilets matching their changed genders in limbo. It remains unclear how those issues will be eventually solved, and will soon receive the debate in America.
In none faith schools in he U.S, transgenders have never had issues using bathrooms matching their changed genders, but many faith schools have been adamant in their refusal to permit transgenders to use bathrooms of their new sex. Their argument is that people should be content with their gender of birth, but many transgenders believe they were born in the wrong bodies.
This would have been the first case to be addressed by the Supreme Court in what would have set a clear precedent for all other cases to follow, but it remains unclear exactly how such cases will be dealt with by justices in the high court.
WORRIED
Campaigners of human rights will be very worried about the latest developments, but faith schools will be delighted and see this recent news as an indicator that they are on the winning side with what may turn out to be controversial directions. It remains to be seen how legal conclusions in his regard will be framed and how the low will develop in this potentially explosive topic.
