Damarcus Coley, 14, was upset that his brother, Darcus Coley, 15, was getting more gifts than him. The argument continued at their grandmother’s house at 2357 22nd Avenue Southwest, where Abrielle Baldwin, 23, told her brother to stop arguing over the gifts.

The altercation unfolded as the siblings, along with their mother and the victim’s two children, were shopping for presents on Christmas Eve.
According to Sheriff Bob Gualtieri, tensions arose when the 15-year-old felt that his younger brother was receiving more gifts, leading to a heated argument.
During a press conference, Sheriff Gualtieri revealed that the family spat escalated, prompting Baldwin, the victim, to urge her 14-year-old brother to stop arguing in the spirit of Christmas.
However, the situation took a tragic turn when the younger brother produced a 40-caliber handgun, threatening to shoot his sibling. After Baldwin intervened and attempted to defuse the situation, the 14-year-old pointed the gun at her and her 11-month-old child, who she was holding in a carrier.
Tragically, the 14-year-old followed through on his threat, shooting Baldwin in the chest as she held the baby carrier.
In a shocking twist, the 15-year-old brother then retrieved another handgun, shot his younger brother, and fled the scene.
The teen was later apprehended at a relative’s home in Clearwater.
Upon arriving at the scene, deputies discovered both brothers with single gunshot wounds. Baldwin was rushed to a local hospital but was pronounced dead.
Miraculously, her 11-month-old son, who was present during the horrifying incident, emerged unharmed.
The 14-year-old brother, charged with first-degree murder, child abuse, and delinquency in possession of a firearm, and the 15-year-old, charged with attempted first-degree murder and tampering with evidence, both have criminal histories, Sheriff Gualtieri told reporters.
