Hix warned that the US is preparing for “violence on the scale that the U.S. Army has not seen since Korea” when over 30,000 American troops were slaughtered.
He added that China and Russia are both developing huge militaries which are driven by new technologies. American military chiefs are expressing grave concern about threats from “modern nation-states acting aggressively in militarised competition,”
Army Chief of Staff General, Mark A. Milley added that war between nation states “is almost guaranteed”.
He said: “Land forces will have to enable sea forces.
“The Army is definitely going to have to dominate the air above our battle space.”
The military chief said America must prepare for advanced cyber warfare and fight guerrilla-style in complex urban settings. This is not really the sort of rhetoric we want to hear from an army chief in a world desperately in need of progress and solutions.
STRENGTH
Miley also made reference to a strengthened Russia, an increasingly dominate China, expanding smaller nation states and climate change as factors which could lead to instability. He said: “While we’re ready now, we are being challenged.
“Our Army and our nation must be ready.”
Recently, Russia announced it had built nuclear bunkers that can hold 12 million of its residents if world war 3 happens-sanctuaries that will keep them safe. No such equivalence is known to exist in America or Britain. The potential global war has arisen over Russia continuous bombing of Syria in which several citizens have been killed, but also on the development of nuclear weapons by Russia and Korea. The threat of a world war is a frightening prospect, likely to be different from anything we have ever seen in our lifetime. All because of stupidity and arrogance, which can be sorted by humility and resolution.
The intensity of the dispute has been brewing for a while and appears to gather pace fast with the urgent need for clever resolution. Rhetoric from the American government has long been aggressive, but Putin has not exactly been an easy leader to deal with. It seems the countdown has begun, though we have been terrifying close in past times, we can only desperately hope the threat of war is avoided at the last minute.
