Tyson Fury’s warrior heart saved him from the potential first defeat of his career as he fought bravely for 9 rounds with a big gash in his eye that made his fight very challenging.
Fury sustained a big cut to his left eye in the third round after being hit by a heavy shot by Otto Wallin , a Swedish boxer previously unbeaten in 20 fights. Wallin was expected to fade in much the same way as Fury’s previous opponent, Tom Schwatz, who Fury stopped in two rounds last March. However, Wallin proved to be a tough opponent, as he courageously tried to exploit Fury’s eye injury and become the first man to beat him.
Fury began to fight like a warrior as blood dripped from his eye for much of the fight. The ring doctor took a look at Fury in the 7th round but allowed the fight to continue. The gypsy warrior went toe to toe with Wallin , weakening him with body shots and nearly stopped him in the 11th round. The unbeaten British fighter had to settle for a points win , gaining a good night’s exercise in the end. His speed and movement was not lost, Deontey Wilder in the opposite corner on Saturday would have taken full advantage of his cut eye and finished the job.
