Two teenagers were arrested after a delivery man’s van was stolen which contained parcels.Police said the driver was making deliveries when he was pushed out by two offenders who stole his van. The incident happened just after 12.30pm in Southchurch Drive, Clifton, on Monday (December 16).
The practise of young thugs robbing post and delivery men is not new, as thugs often consider this means of crime as a quick way to earn some quick cash, rarely ever considering the high chances of being caught.
A spokesman for Nottinghamshire Police said: “The van was tracked and later found abandoned.-
“The offenders had made off in another vehicle also believed to be linked to the robbery.
“Officers driving along Beechdale Road spotted the vehicle and began a pursuit.
“It failed to stop before two suspects got out of the car and ran off.
“Our officers chased after them on foot and, after searching the area, the suspects were found hiding in a garden.”
The pair remain in police custody. Detective Sergeant Karl Thomas, of Nottinghamshire Police’s robbery team, said: “This was a shocking attack on a delivery driver who was just doing his job. Thankfully he wasn’t hurt during this frightening incident. Our enquiries are ongoing.
“Nottinghamshire Police treats robbery extremely seriously and we have our own dedicated robbery team to tackle the issue and to bring offenders to justice.
