Two teenagers charged with murdering a Birstall man outside a factory and possessing an offensive weapon have made their first Crown Court appearance today A provisionally been trial date is being listed for July 13.
Kiyran Earnshaw, aged 18, of Field Lane, Batley, and a 15-year-old boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons appeared at Leeds Crown Court over the death of 53-year-old Robert Wilson.
Mr Wilson was stabbed outside the Thornton & Ross factory in Linthwaite, Huddersfield, last Thursday. Earnshaw is also charged with wounding with intent and possession of a bladed article in relation to a 39-year-old man who suffered injuries in the same incident. The killing sent shock waves in Birstall, as locals had to swallow the thought that one of their own had be stabbed by two teenage tear away kids.
Michael Brown , 36 told The Eye Of Media.Com: ”it is awful that this can happen. I am shocked that a nice elderly man could be killed so ruthlessly. Sharon Allison, 38 said ;” it is dreadful what these young people are doing these days. This is the result of poor parenting, what kind of children will kill a man old enough to be their grandfather. They are heartless baxxxxx”!
The incident is an example of the spreading knife crime blighting the Uk, which is more prominent in London. A large attendance is expected for the trial when it occurs this summer.
