Twins born on the same day will have different birth dates, it has been revealed.
Eve and Billy Humphrey of Merchantville, N.J., received an unexpected New Year’s surprise when they found out they were expecting not one but two boys.
The couple, due at the end of January, was in for an even bigger surprise when Eve’s water broke on New Year’s Eve – also coincidentally Billy’s birthday.
“We were caught off guard. The doctor said, ‘Well, there’s two heartbeats,’ and I was in shock,” recalled Eve, expressing her disbelief at the news of expecting twins.
With Billy’s birthday and New Year’s Eve converging, the couple headed to Virtua Voorhees Hospital with hopes of potentially sharing the birthday with their newborn sons.
“I’m like, ‘What a great birthday gift! I get two boys on my birthday. Maybe this is going to happen?'” Billy wondered optimistically.
Arriving at the hospital with time to spare, the couple witnessed the birth of Baby A, now named Ezra, at 11:48 p.m. on New Year’s Eve, weighing in at 6 lbs. The joy of the first baby’s arrival prompted light-hearted thoughts from the new parents.
“Once he was born, thinking of the tax write-off, I was like, ‘Maybe we can get another tax write-off!'” Eve joked with a laugh.
However, the Humphreys were in for a unique celebration as Baby B, later named Ezekiel, made his grand entrance at 12:28 a.m. on New Year’s Day, weighing 4 lbs., 15 oz. The twins, born on different days and in different years, brought an extra layer of joy and excitement to the family.
“I just know they’re going to be world changers. And they couldn’t share the same day, right? They needed their own spotlight,” expressed a proud Billy.
The twins’ older brother, Hezekiah, will be turning three on January 3. The family is relishing the unique and joyous start to the new year with their bundles of happiness.
