Former Prime Minister, Tony Blair, may be held in contempt of Parliament for misleading them over the Iraq war in 2003.
Conservative MP, David Davis said he will present the motion to Parliament on Thursday. The move comes following the recent report from Sir John Chilcote that the legal basis a for the war arrived at in a way that was “far from satisfactory”.
David’s vow came during an interview with Andrew Marr in his show on Sunday morning. He said ” I am going to put down a contempt motion which says that Tony Blair has held in contempt. “It’s a bit like contempt of court. Essentially by deceit”.
Blair has repeatedly apologised for the error, claiming those errors were made in good faith. However, such an apology is no good if he led the country to war under false pretences.
His motion will be debated in Parliament if accepted by the Speaker John Bercow. Blair could be stripped of his privy Councilorship
