THREE JAILED FOR DRUG SMUGGLING

BY JASON SIMONS
A young woman and her accomplice have been jailed for drug smuggling after they were stopped in a car during a proactive operation by the metropolitan police service project team. 28 year old Nicholas Douglas of Princes Court was arrested intelligence officers in Barnet and discovered a kilo of class A drugs hidden in a girls birthday wrapping paper stopped a car she was travelling in. After arresting her and searching her home, they uncovered large cutting paper capable of boosting the street value of the drugs in her possession more than four times over to the tune of £250,000.
Her accomplice, Babatunde Arogundade was later stopped on the 27th of May driving a vehicle in Eastwick Row, Hemel Hamstead . In his possession was a deadly arsenal of firearms that included a hand gun, a shortened pump action shortgun and a sawn-off shotgun arms. He was served a total of 27 years imprisonment- 15 years for conspiracy to supply controlled drugs, 8 years for possession of unloaded fire arms, all to be served consecutively. Fred Jones Cartley of Ketchill Gardens was sentenced to 12 years imprisonment for conspiracy to supply controlled drugs.

PC Inspector I believe Arogundade was looking to sell the weapons on to those who would be willing to use them. This investigation highlights the work my team my in doing on a day to day basis to keep the community safe.
