THERESA MAY: WE MUST KEEP UK TOGETHER.

BY SAMMIE JONES

Theresa May insisted we must keep the United Kingdom together, as she was given a standing ovation yesterday evening, at a private home in Alvanley gardens.

The Conservative front runner for the leadership party, told a group of supporters from the Hampstead and Kilburn area, that although she is a ” clear remainer, there is no going back on Brexit and that action must be taken to control levels of free movement in the United Kingdom.

May said: I am clear that Brexit means Brexit and we should be sure that we are putting that into practice.

“We must listen to those who voted out because for them immigration was an issue and we need to make sure we do something about the issue of free movement, she said. It cannot carry on operating as it has hitherto.

And I think we need to negotiate on some security issues that I have dealt with with the E.U.  So that is an important task in itself”.

Promising to work for the best possible dealing terms of goods and services,  she cautioned against pre occupation with the Brexit negotiations, but called for the need to heal the racial divisions and attitudes seen in the it’s wake “that belong to the past”.

“The Brexit negotiation is linked to the question of keeping the United Kingdom together. We know Nicolas Sturgeon is going a round over to Brussels and so forth”.

” I think actually if we get a good deal with our relationship with the E.U from the negotiations, that will be a very important element of keeping Scotland in the United Kingdom, and I believe passionately that we should keep the United Kingdom together.”

Theresa May is the bookies favorite to become the next Conservative party leader, after the turmoil that has saddled her party .

She is  indeed correct that keeping the United Kingdom together is of paramount importance, though questionable in terms of the good deal from the E.U that she talks about.

E.U leaders have declined all talks of any deals until Article 50 is activated, so much depends on whether Scotland will stick around waiting that long. May will nevertheless set her sights on preventing a disastrous break up of the U.K.

Michael Gove today categorically said that Article 50 will not be activated this calendar year.   So, all depends on precisely how things turn out.
