There is an urgent need to raise mental health awareness in the Uk. One of the most important reasons is that more people suffer from it than realise this.
According to statistics, 1 in 4 people in the Uk suffer from some form of mental health illness. This means there are professionals, students, and many otherwise responsible people in society suffering from some degree of mental health problems. The scale of mental health is broad, and some people suffer to higher degrees than others. Individuals who scream at the top of their voice when angry often have a degree of mental health illness which needs attention.
Although we are all prone to anger, exactly how that anger is displayed in certain circumstances can expose mental health illness that needs attention. Bullying at school , work or at home from partners can easily contribute to mental health illness. Bereavement can also contribute to mental health problems, especially where one feels life has thrown them an unfair card in loosing someone they feel should not have passed away.
People who feel they did not get an opportunity to repair a strain in the relationship with a close one who passed away can sometimes be traumatised by guilt. Regulating this guilt is important, through talking and counselling. Allowing guilt to fester in the mind for too long can also lead to mental health problems. One area most overlooked is stress from work. Jobs that involve dealing with the public which involves other people with mental health problems can increase mental health issues. Bullish bosses, work colleagues or irrational clients plays a big role in worsening mental health issues.
Expertise in this area is in vast short supply. Sexual partners with mental health problems also play a big role in worsening the mental health of victims of bullying and manipulation. Individuals with sexual partners who suffer with high mental health issues are largely at risk, their mental state are increasingly vulnerable to abuse. People in relationships where one partner suffers from mental health illness suffer great risk of abuse if not detected and adequately treated.
Much depends on how these experiences are handled. Sexual abuse for instance in most cases plays a big role in mental health illness , which can stay with the victim for years to come. It is even worse for abuse victims who are unsuccessful in getting legal justice because of lack of evidence. The pain and assault to the mind can be very devastating. Recognising the symptoms of mental health is the first step to addressing it.
Clarity of thought is a useful first step to addressing the kind of problems that injure the mind and subject people to tantrums which only worsen the mental state. When people act without considering the potential consequences of their actions, it often reflects a degree of mental health illness.More so, when the consequences were predictable, potentially devastating, and the individuals have acted rashly. The good news is that mental health can be overcome by conscious evaluation and awareness.
There is an urgent need for greater awareness of mental health through expertise teaching and training. More of this is nee din schools and work places.
