The girl at the center of the Adam Jonson trial has told a court in Bradford that she thought she was ”big and clever” to have something to brag about that none of her 15 year old pals at the time could have had.
She admitted to subsequently feeling stupid for it, but has no regrets for exposing 28 year old ”weird” Adam Johnson for messaging a 15 year old the way he did.
“I thought that when I told him my age he would have backed off. I mean who just asks for a random fan’s number?”, she rhetorically asked the court.
When discussing the pair’s first meeting on January 17, the teen said she didn’t know how Johnson would react to her calling the alleged encounter to an end.
“To me he was still a stranger,” she told the court. “I wasn’t aware of what type of person he was. Obviously for someone to be texting a 15-year-old girl they’re not a completely normal person.”
Jurors previously heard the girl say she felt “big and clever” after her liaisons with Johnson.
She said: “I didn’t see why Adam Johnson would message me out of the blue, why me and not another fan?
“It was a massive thing for a 15-year-old girl to keep a secret.
“For me to have that, something that none of my other friends have had of course I was trying to brag about it.”
She added: “I thought I was big and I thought I was clever, I feel so stupid now I didn’t see it at that time.”
The teenager-15 at the time- outsmarted how much older and richer partner in crime by making a Snap chat video of her second encounter with Johnson in his car on January 30.
The video footage was just of the dashboard and the girl said this was to prove to people it happened.
“How many other teenagers can say that happened to them?” she said. Wow! This girl, naughty and silly as she was, has made a name for herself among her peers, by putting to shame a footballer making tonnes of money, and who would normally be expected to be a role model in society.
“This wasn’t a normal everyday thing for a just-turned 15-year-old girl. It was surreal,” she told the court; all ears attentive to her every word.
Johnson has admitted meeting a child after sexual grooming and one count of sexual activity involving kissing. He denies two further counts of sexual activity with the 15-year-old.
