A teenager has been charged in connection with the fatal stabbing of another boy in a park.
The teenager, 16, is due to appear at Barkingside Magistrates’ Court today (July 14) after he was charged with murder and possession of an offensive weapon yesterday.
Formal identification is yet to take place of the dead boy, but police said he has been provisionally identified as Rahaan Ahmed Amin, also 16.
lboy Rahaan Ahmed Amin suffered a knife wound to the heart and, despite paramedics battling to save him, he died in hospital.
Police were scrambled to West Ham park at 5.30pm on Sunday to reports of a stabbing.
On arrival, they found a boy with a stab wound and performed emergency first aid before London Ambulance Service paramedics and the London Air Ambulance arrived.
He was later transferred to an east London hospital, where he died the day after.
A post mortem examination which took place on Wednesday (July 12) established his cause of death as a stab wound to the heart.
A 16-year-old and a 14-year-old boy arrested on Monday (July 10) on suspicion of murder in connection with the incident have been released on police bail pending further enquiries.
Two other 16-year-old boys arrested at the scene were subsequently been released with no further action.
DCI Kelly Allen for Specialist Crime North said: “We know this incident will have caused a considerable amount of concern for local residents and I would like to reassure the public that we continue to work around the clock to establish the exact circumstances.
“I urge members of the public to help us with our enquiries by providing any images, footage or information they may have that could assist our investigation.”
