A judge has jailed An east London teacher for performing sex acts on a 15-year-old schoolboy.
23 year old Alice McBrearty, was caged for 16 months for having a four-month fling with the pupil, who she taught earlier this year. McBreaty romped with the school boy in an Ibis hotel , and performed sex acts in an empty garage
Snaresbrook Crown Court heard McBrearty kissed the young lad in a classroom and taken him to an Ibis hotel for sex. She took her kiss one step further by performing sex acts on him in an empty garage, her car and her parents’ East London home. The young teenage boy clearly had the time of his life.
McBrearty, pleaded guilty to seven counts of sexual activity with a child while in a position of trust. She sobbed uncontrollably in the dock as Judge Sheelagh Canavan sentenced her on Friday for committing the ‘’grossest abuse of trust’’
She said: “You engaged in a full-blown sexual relationship with a 15-year-old child.
“I accept he was consenting, what 15-year-old schoolboy would turn down such an attractive offer
“I accept you truly believed this was a great romance, you were in love with him and vice versa, and that age didn’t matter. But it did.
“You were supposed to keep him safe, to help him make the right decisions.
“Instead, you helped him make all the wrong ones.” The judge was perfect in her judgment on the school teacher, who was pathetic for making such a stupid mistake. Many teachers before her have bene caught and shamed for the similar misconduct, but this teacher dug herself a big hole and walked right into it. The relationship was sparked after the teacher sent the young boy a facebook friends request.
The police was alerted after the boy’s father caught wind of the illegal romance and reported it to police.
FRIENDS REQUEST
The court heard the relationship began when McBrearty sent the boy, who cannot be identified, a friend request on social media. She groomed him after that, sending him gifts and making him feel special.
Snaresbrook Crown Court heard that the boy “felt special”, and “appeared to be besotted with her”.
Her lawyer, Emma Shafton, said: “This is a young lady who has had a spectacular fall from grace – university educated, comes from a respectable family – she has been utterly disgraced by this.” Coming from an educated family has no relevance to having moral codes; this teacher demonstrated a lack of respect for moral principles and good practise. McBreaty has single handed ruined her own name and career. At 23, Mc Breaty would have had a world of men her age and over to strike a romance with. Her decision in going for a 15 year old was awful enough to strip her of all the credibility she has acquired throughout her academic life.
As a teacher, she should have been conscious of the traces of evidence social grooming would inevitably leave. She wasn’t in a desert during the trial of footballer Adam Johnson, who committed sexual acts with a 15 year old and left several incriminating evidence on text messages and social media communication. Adams was jailed for seven years for his acts, but McBraerty, who should be way smarter than Adams goes and commits the same offence.
