A persistent abuser with mental health issues who committed suicide in Chelmsford, was high on spice, The Eye Of Media.Com has heard.
38 year old, Joseph Hause originally from Kent, was serving time at Chelmsford prison for domestic violence when he was found dead in his cells, despite being on suicide watch. Now, ex inmates have told The Eye of Media.Com that he was high on spice moments before he killed himself. The Eye Of Media.Com has in past times covered the easily accessibility Chelmsford inmates have to drugs, especially spice, in a jail known for its violent and wayward prisoners.
Spice is a lethal drug that has killed a number of Brits in the past. It consists of very dangerous chemicals much stronger than the strongest strain of strong cannabis around like scunk, and has the tendency to hospitalise many of its users, knocking them unconscious on many occasions.
Joseph Hause, a father of four, was dubbed ”a danger to the public” by a judge in 2006 after he attacked his former girlfriend for refusing to go to bed with him. Over a decade later, Hause had not changed, and was jailed again for 10 weeks, after attacking his girlfriend, Jane, from Southend On Sea, Essex. Hause was known to be mentally unstable after going on hard drugs in 2002 following the death of his mother who was brutally murdered. A year earlier in 2001, Hause’s father died of a heart attack, leaving him an emotional wreck.
A former inmate of Chelmsford Prison who spoke on the condition of anonymity told The Eye Of Media.Com ” the guy(Hause) was always spaced out on spice, high everyday. He was alright sometimes, but his mood could quickly change, especially when he was high on spice. He also knew how to wind people up because he was quite gubby. There has always been and will always be plenty of spice available in Chelmsford, the former jail bird said. It is the in thing in Chelmsford Prison”.
Hause’s girlfriend, Jane was too upset to talk in detail to The Eye of Media.Com, but confirmed that Hause had sent her a suicide letter before he was found dead in Chelmsford’s notorious prison.” He was suffering from a lot of depression, and was back on heroine in the months leading up to his arrest”, she said. Slamming the prison officials for allowing him to send a suicide letter, she said :” I think it is shameful and ridiculous that a man in suicide watch could send a suicide letter without anyone reading the suicide note, or preventing him from committing the suicide he supposedly committed. There is a lot that doesn’t make sense, but an investigation is still ongoing”
Hause was put on suicide watch every hour, making it a mystery how he managed to send a suicide letter to his girlfriend, which read: ”by the time you read this I will be dead”. The suicide letter also stated that Hause did ”not want to be a burden”. The 38 year old was disabled and had been using a wheelchair , causing his dependence on others to grow over the years. His death
Chelmsford is one of the most notorious prisons in the UK and has lost prisoners to 13 suicides between 2011 and 2016. There were 122 recorded assaults on staff in 2016 and 17.5% of prisoners failed drugs teat in 2017. Only 3 prisons in the Uk were considered worse than Chelmsford in 2017.
A Prison Service spokesperson said:
“HMP Chelmsford prisoner Joseph Hause (DOB 29/09/79) died in custody on Saturday 13 January 2018.
“Our sincere condolences are with the family and friends of Mr Hause at this difficult time.”
“There is an ongoing police investigation, so it would be inappropriate to comment further at this stage.”
