By Aaron Miller-
Stormy Daniels defamatory suit against U.S President Donald Trump is nonsensical in every respect.
Daniels, the Porn star who exposed the president for having an extramarital affair with her in 2006, claimed a man she did not know approached her in Las Vegas in 2011 in the presence of her daughter. The unidentified man allegedly told her to ”leave Trump alone”. A motion in a Los Angeles court by Trump’s lawyers this week called for a dismissal of the lawsuit by the courts. The president’s lawyers also claim that Daniels, whose real name is Stephanie Clifford, benefited financially from her “highly publicized” interactions with the president.
Trump , who has denied having an affair with Daniels, responded cynically the next day on Twitter. He said: “A sketch years later about a nonexistent man. A total con job, playing the Fake News Media for Fools (but they know it)!” The account maybe true, so the media don’t know it to be false, but it could just as easily be fictitious. Without evidence to support or refute the claim, it is neither here nor there.
Daniels has branded the tweet defamatory and is seeking damages for the president’s words. In Monday’s motion, Trump’s lawyers said the lawsuit was “designed to chill the president’s free speech rights on matters of public concern.” Trump’s lawyers cited a law in Daniels’ home state of Texas requiring that such a lawsuit be dismissed unless Daniels could provide “clear and specific evidence” for her claims, which they said she had failed to do. Trump’s presidency has been dogged with so much controversy ever since his rise to power. His overhasty tendency to express some of his views in ways many find unattractive has been an off putting aspect of his characteristics, but this time the president’s tweet was a natural reaction from anybody in his shoes.
Trump’s lawyers also say that Daniels had not been harmed, but “capitalized” on the dispute with a nationwide tour of strip clubs “for which she admittedly is being paid at least four times her normal appearance fee.” Stormy Daniels has made a name for herself ever since the revelation of her alleged affair with President Trump. The Eye Of Media.Com has said that Stormy Daniel was immoral in keeping the $130,000 hush money she received if she was going to still reveal the affair, though the payment of the money itself would be immoral if Donald Trump actually slept with her and attempted to buy her silence. That would have been an attempt to cheat the electorate.
The latest lawsuit of defamation against President Trump has no chance of success in any noble court. It looks like a vain attempt to add to the riches of Daniels, who appears to be a money grabber by all accounts of her history. There is a hypothetical chance the account given by Daniels in which she was threatened is true, but her lawyers will struggle to find any theoretical or rational grounds to suggest Donald Trump believes her story, or that he set out to falsify its truism without any solid facts to back up her claims.
Trump’s longtime personal lawyer Michael Cohen pleaded guilty last week to violating federal election law by paying Daniels $130,000 not to disclose information that would be harmful to Trump.Trump insists Cohen’s admission was designed to strike a deal with prosecutors, a claim his lawyer denies. As the world awaits the outcome of every stage of the legal battle between Trump and Stormy Daniels, one predictable outcome is that her defamatory claim against the president is nonesensical.
