Southampton have the best defensive record in all 4 divisions coming into this game so felt they had a chance. The Saints have conceded just 17 goals in the league, the fewest of all 4 divisions in the English football league. With 38 year old goalkeeper Kelvin Davis in for the injured Frazer Fosters, his replacement had the task of keeping the 15 clean sheet premier league record going. Graziano Pelle came close early in the game with a shot which came of the outside of the net. The first corner of the game came from Kelvin Davis which came off Jose Fonte and turned in from Morgan Schneiderlin(22nd min.) for the first goal. only 7 goals in the previous 10 premier league matches for Southampton, so this was a huge relief for southampton.A stoke free kick from Mario Arnautovic which was met by Geoff Cameron and Steven Nzongi missed the only opportunity for the Potters in the first half.

Mame Biram Diouf equalized with the 9th goal of the season after nzonzi sent a makeshift cross/shot. As it come off the post diouf(47th min) scored. A collision between Pelle and Nzonzi lead to Adams free kick which went towards Peter Crouch then came back to Mario Arnautovic, who crossed the into the box and came off Steven Davis, Walters tried a shot which came back to Charlie Adams to score with just over 6 minutes left of the game the is crossed by Mario Arnautovic off the head of Davis then to shawcross, Carlie Adams scored 2nd goal in 2 games and his 4 of the season. from 1 down stock lead 2-1. Peter Crouch was unlucky late In the game from a pass from Jonathan Walters.
Stoke have 3 more points than they had last year. 13 wins gives Mark Hughes team the best record from any Stoke City side since the premiership league. The Potters are currently 9th and should be more than happy with this position
