Smiling is also reportedly associated with the release of a ‘feel good’ hormone called dopamine, which is said to make people happier and helps people cope with stress, according to experts.
The increase of a broad smile needs to be accompanied with other beneficial practices for the maximization of happiness.
Insufficient sleep has been linked to various health issues and is said to impair cognitive functions. Lack of sleep can be associated with irritability, poor concentration power, and chronic illnesses such as heart problems, diabetes, obesity and other failings that detract from happiness.
Adults are recommended to have at least 7-8 hours of sleep every night to keep the body, keeping the mind and body functioning well. Adequate sleep when combined with regular exercise or physical activity is believed to be a useful way of increasing one’s feeling of happiness. Researchers have also suggested yoga as a healthy form of exercise.
Good nutrition with mental health is ideal for raising spirits and believed to improve overall brain functions and certain mood disorders too. Having a good circle of friends or being a part of a community is also quite important for joy.
Psychologists say life circumstances, achievements, marital status, social relationships, can all influence how happy people can be. Challenging activities that include meeting goals, maintaining close social ties, and finding purpose beyond oneself all increase life satisfaction.

People will regularly get offended, but it is important to deal with matters that upset one as quickly as possible and not harbour grudges. Grudges affect our hormones directly, whilst the person we are grudging may well be living a happy life”.
Travelling and broadening our life experiences and opportunities is one of those experiences that can contribute to the increase of our level of happiness. Meeting new people and being motivated by new goals are considered to be positive experiences that boosts our happiness.
Psychologists define happiness as an emotional state characterized by feelings of joy, satisfaction, contentment, and fulfillment. It is generally defined in the context of the balance of emotions and life satisfaction.
Vazavil adds: ”the fact psychologists say happiness is connected with how satisfied people feel with different areas of their life, including relationships, work, achievements, and other important factors shows how crucial it is for decent people to also contribute to the happiness of other people’s lives.
”Individuals who fail to value important relationships at home with their partners will eventually damage their partner’s joy, and their own happiness too. Families must value the relationships in their households, including with their children, their extended family members and their friends. Relationships that are harmful should be done away with, but those that are profitable should be treasured even when they face hard times and trials. We all have a responsibility to preserve our happiness and try and make others happy”.
