Scotland Will have a referendum on independence, after Mp’ s cleared the way for a second vote today.
Mp’ s voted by 69 to 59 in favour of a referendum , making it inevitable that the Scottish people have a say on whether they break away from the UK following the historical break away from the UK.
A potential obstacle comes in the form of Theresa May’s vow to block such a move because according to her, ” now is not the time”. Scotland’s first prime minister, Nicola Sturgeon, today said her mandate to implement another vote is now ” beyond doubt”, adding that it would be ” democratically indefensible ” and utterly unsustainable to try to block it.
Scotland’ s parliament as a group say they want to observe the Brexit process journey and understand he Uk’ a new relationship with the EU in order to make a well informed decision on how to proceed
Sturgeon feels the UK government has been sidelining the feeling of the Scottish people who voted to remain in the EU, but the situation is far more complicated than that.
May and her team of Brexitiers simply want to get on with the Brexit process without the potential complications of a split by voluntarily giving Scotland a referendum. The obvious irony here lies in the fact the Scottish Parliament has now voted for a referendum, making an ugly outcome quite possible down the line.
The vote in the Scottish Parliament in itself is already an independent move that highlights the scary potential of a Scottish independence that may work for Scotland and spell disaster for the UK.It may also turn out to be a dreadful mistake for the Scottish government and the Scottish people if they take this road.
The clear positive difference between a future Scottish referendum and the referendum conducted in the UK last June is the fact the Scottish government plan to explain everything to the Scottish people in terms of the Uk’ s new relationship with the EU.
This will ensure they don’t vote blindly at all, although voters generally know why they are voting a certain way even where they may be missing out on some information.
