School pupils in Scotland have been participating in special lessons that make them feel like rock stars , as part of inspiration to any long term goals they have to be music legends.
As the young lads prepare for their summer holidays, young pupils between the age of 6 and 11 have been attending the Rockstar Recordings at the Brick Lane Music Studios by perfecting their musical skills at the music school.
Music is known to be one of the greatest ways to engage the mind and keep it excited.
Music is also established to activate both the left and right brain at the same time, and the activation of both hemispheres can maximize learning and improve memory.
An abundance of research exists that shows that listening to music can reduce anxiety, blood pressure, and pain as well as improve sleep quality, mood, mental alertness, and memory
Pupils enrolled at The Diane Mitchell Music School are allocated a teacher. to nurture their music ambitions, and help bring the best out of them. The music school operates on an extracurricular basis, separate from the usual schooling hours, meaning all their pupils attend other schools where they receive their education in other subjects.
The music schools charge £68 monthly or £17 per session. They teach school aged children between the ages of 5 and 16, but also admit children as young as 2 years of age for extra-curricula lessons.
The sessions run Mon-Thurs from 10am-4pm every day and usually costs £120 for the week, but Diane has made the sessions available for a discounted price of £100 this summer. The
The school also hosts a music cafe from time to time which aims to bring free educational and entertaining musical experiences to those in the community who have not had a chance to engage previously.
The group is more like a social club than a formal lesson where people come together to learn and hone their musical skills.
This week, youngsters broke up their summer holidays by attending the Rockstar Recordings at the Brick Lane Music Studios.
Diane Mitchell, of the Diane Mitchell School of Music explained more about the project: “Rockstar recordings is one of our summer weeks run by the music school. So the kids come in and they work together on different instruments or write their own song. And then they record it in the recording studio. And they do a lot of musical games and have fun as well, they’re all really enjoying it.”
Diane has different themes each week, with past events including Boom Beats and Magical Musicians.
“We run these so the children have something to do during the holidays. It gives the parents something for their kids to do and they’re learning as well has having fun.” Added Diane.
