Former Chancellor, Sajid Javid has resigned from his he appointment as chancellor following loggerheads with Mr Cummings who masterminded the successful Vote Leave campaign brought in by the new Prime Minister to head his No 10 operation.
The tension between the pair began when Mr Cummings sacked Mr Javid’s special adviser Sonia Khan, for allegedly remaining in contact with her former boss, ex-chancellor Philip Hammond.The feud erupted when Mr Cummings summarily sacked Mr Javid’s special adviser Sonia Khan, accusing her of remaining in contact with her former boss, ex-chancellor Philip Hammond.
Mr Javid was offended by the act which he perceived to be a power play also intended to undermine him. Matters became impossible for mr. Javid after the prime minister, Boris Johnson said he had to fire all his special advisers and replace them with Number 10 special advisers to make it one team. The chancellor said no self-respecting minister would accept those terms.”mr Javid consequently had to step down.
His replacement Mr Sunak, 39, was educated at Winchester College and Oxford University. In 2015, he was elected MP for Richmond, North Yorkshire, replacing former Conservative leader William Hague. Mr Sunak became a housing minister in 2018, after which he was promoted to chief secretary to the Treasury last July.
Arriving at the Treasury, Mr Sunak said he was “delighted to be appointed” chancellor and had “a lot to get on with”.
