One of the Queen’s cousins has today appeared on ITV1 – telling television host Loraine: ”I was taught to “sit down and shut up”.
Olga Romanoff appeared on Lorraine Kelly’s ITV1 daytime TV talk show and was directing her anger at Prince Harry and Meghan, following their bombshell with Oprah Winfrey two months ago.
Her appearance came after a tense two months for the royal family, and may be reflective of the mood in royal circles., the Russian royal, who lives alone at Provender, a 30-room 13th century home in Kent, is no stranger to talking in public, but not when it comes to private matters.
‘Did you not fancy the job?’ asked host Lorraine Kelly.
‘Not at all,’ she replied. ‘My mother said all these thing about me and I wasn’t allowed to speak for myself.’
Olga’s parents fled Russia during the revolution, a year after the Tsar Nicholas II and his family were executed by Bolsheviks revolutionaries under Yakov Yurovsky in Yekaterinbur on July 1918.
Meghan Markle is still in the spotlight talking about women of colour being disproportionately affected by the pandemic, but every time the Duchess Of Sussex speaks, it annoys the royal family and royalists alike. They would rather not hear her voice at all, but the former U.S actress has not run out of things to say.
Complain
Ms Romanoff’s was more bothered about the fact Meghan Markle had bitterly complained over many things than she was about whether her complaints were valid or nonsensical.
Her message was that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were spoiling the royal flow,
TV presenter Lorraine said: “The Queen has this thing doesn’t she? She never complains. Never explains. That comes from the Queen Mother, too.
“But her children and her grandchildren have given extensive TV interviews. We have seen that. Do you think that is the way ahead to sort of modernise the Royal Family?
“Or do you think people should just ‘sssh’?
Olga told Lorraine: “Well, I was taught to ‘sit down and shut up’ and never wash your dirty linen in public, no matter what it might be.
“I think the Queen does it right”, she said.
Piers Morgan may have advised Olga to argue that not all the laundry was as dirty as Prince Harry and Meghan made out, but that would be complaining and talking too much, as far as Olga is concerned.
She is not amused by getting into such details on private matters.
