The Queen will abdicate her thrown in three year’s time and make Charles king, it has been claimed.
Her Majesty will step down at the age of 95 , paving the way for her son take over as Prince Regent while she is still alive, The Sun reports. Queen Elizabeth, at 92, is the oldest and longest-serving monarch following her coronation in 1952. The Queen has held the throne since the tender age of 25 and has served the country for seven decades in total now.
However, a new book by Royal correspondent Robert Jobson, who toured with Prince Charles for a year, suggested Her Majesty will stand aside to allow Charles to become Prince Regent in just three years’ time.
Mr Jobson said in the past: “I understand the Queen has given the matter considerable thought and believes that, if she is still alive at 95, she will seriously consider passing the reins to Charles.“Her Majesty is mindful of her age and wants to make sure when the time comes, the transition of the Crown is seamless.
“I understand the Queen has given the matter considerable thought and believes that, if she is still alive at 95, she will seriously consider passing the reins to Charles,” Jobson has said. If Charles were to become King of Britain in the next three years that will be big news of historic proportions. Britain will have a king for the first time since 1836. Prince Charles can always pass the honour to his son, Prince Harry, but he is likely not to allow the historical opportunity pass him by. Charles has plenty of life experience and would be expected to relish the role.
However, as King, Prince Charles will not be able to campaign for climate change to be addressed in the passionate and explanatory way he has done in the past. Unless he changes the longstanding custom that forbids the Head of the Monarch from participating in political matters. Three years is not a long time, so we will all have to wait and see if the Queen actually does abdicate her position.
