A crazy student has stabbed a psychology professor to death at the University of Southern California campus.
The killing was the result of a personal dispute, but police have not said what the dispute was about.
The professor found dead sustained several stab wounds in the campus, and the deadly perpetrator of this despicable crime has been arrested, Los Angeles Police department said.
The victim has been identified as 50 years olf Bosco Tjan- the co-director of the Dornsife Cognitive Neuroimaging Center, according to Associated Press. Tjan worked at USC’s Dornsife College of Letters, Arts and Sciences since 2001. AP cited public records indicating that Tjan was 50 years old.
“As the Trojan family mourns Professor Tjan’s untimely passing, we will keep his family in our thoughts,” USC President C. L. Max Nikias said in a statement, adding “we encourage anyone in need of support to reach out to Student Counselling Services or the Center for Work and Family Life.
The eye of media.com have made attempts to contact the University of Southern California, but as the news came out over the weekend, it is still too early to know what the dispute was all about. Something serious must have gone on between the teacher and the student, but there can be no excuse for a student to commit a frenzied attack like that at a University.
Had he used his fists it would still be a ridiculous act, but not as bad or senseless as this. It goes to show the depraved state of the minds of some students in America that they would commit such an offence that has predictive consequences. It will surely be important to know what motivated the vicious attack against the psychology professor because violent assaults of this nature should not be seen at Universities.
Worse attacks have happened in American universities involving multiple murders committed with gun shots. The perpetrator of this crime can kiss his freedom goodbye, and we will surely get a full account after the weekend of the historical cause of this murder.
