Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have unfollowed every single one on their Instagram account they had originally followed, including that of Prince William and Kate, The Sun Newspaper reports. They reportedly have no plans to ever reverse their decision.
The Dutch and Dutchess Of York have replaced all 23 founding accounts with 16 new ones . The new 16 accounts are all people and organisations which work in the field of mental health. It is unclear why they unfollowed them at this close stage to the birth of their new child, but the move will be interpreted to have been done for a specific reason. Since fans of the royal couple and members of the public may still be able to view their photos on instagram, it can only be assumed that the pair have made the move to make a statement of some sort.
The fact the Sun Newspaper have specifically pointed out that the pair’s decision included no longer following the instagram of Prince William and Kate Middleton, it will make people wonder if something very recent may have occurred between the two royal couples, although the couple provided reasons for their decision. The media has been awash with rumours of a feud between Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton and Prince Harry and his brother, Prince William, in what is a sad state of affairs if the rumours are s true as they appear.
The decision to unfollow those they had previously followed will be studied by psychology experts who will speculate on what may have motivated the decision. Among those unfollowed by the Ditch and Dutchess of Sussex includes: Kensington Palace,-the account the couple formerly shared with Prince William and Kate, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.
Also, Clarence House which represents Prince Charles and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall. It also includes Princess Eugenie, who married Jack Brooksbank at Windsor Castle back in October. Prince Andrew andThe Royal Family, the account of the Queen and other members of the family. This shows that a whole bunch of individuals in the royal family have been unfollowed, making it not factual to conclude the decision was to make a statement against prince William and Kate Middleton, but could the move have been a statement against the rest of the royal family as a whole?
It is too drastic a conclusion to make without concrete evidence, but the timing raises questions despite their own explanation. The new post read that in May, the couple is only following organisations that “promote mental well-being, mental fitness, body positivity, self-care, and the importance of human connection.”
HONOUR
In the meantime, the arrival of the new baby and the need for the parents to be to settle into the new life is most important. There has been plenty of speculation in the past few days about the timing of the baby’s arrival which is imminent.
Writing on Instagram, a post from the Sussex Royal account said: “Each month we will honour this same concept and change the accounts we solely follow based on a different theme or cause.“Please go to our homepage and click ‘following’ to see each of the select accounts and find out more about their work.”
The announcement was made in a post alongside a collage of photos which come from the new accounts the Sussex’s are following, to promote mental wellbeing.
It said: “To pay tribute to all of the incredible work people across the globe are doing in this space, we are hoping to shine a light on several Instagram accounts that promote mental well-being, mental fitness, body positivity, self-care, and the importance of human connection – to not just hear each other, but to listen”.
Their message is great, but we still have to ask why they had to unfollow everyone else just because of their support for mental health month. Curious steps.
